Summer Skincare Essentials

Spring is FINALLY almost in London and I cannot wait. But I find that when I’ve been deprived of sun and warmth for so long, when it finally does come, I’m straight up baking outside for hours on end which can be SO so damaging to the skin. Obviously, when I was younger I couldn’t care less nor did I ever think twice about it. But since I’m sadly aging, I’ve started really focusing on taking care of myself this year. As a twenty something year old, I firmly believe in investing in high quality skincare as it’s likely ‘too late’ if you wait until you have visible signs.

I’m always been a huge fan of the Sisley black rose line and can often get into a rut with skincare products where I refuse to try new things, but once I do, I go a little crazy. As you can see, I’ve really converted to a Sisley believer, especially when it comes to their summer friendly products.

The ecological compound is probably their most well-known product, and for good reason. This one’s actually great for any season and can be used day or night, under any products, so it’s sort of your base. Think of it as an equivalent to a primer for makeup.

The cucumber moisturiser actually doesn’t smell like cucumber at all (not sure if that’s a plus or minus in your books, but just a note). The consistency is perfect for summer, not too light as I’m not a fan of moisturisers that are too water-y, and not too heavy. It’s actually a little heavier than my black rose skin infusion cream, so if you prefer super light, opt for that. I find that this particular product is cooling on my skin and the lack of smell keeps my skin fresh for the heat.

One of the latest additions to my routine is this radiant glow mask with red clay, plant extracts and essential oils. Living in a big city, my skin is exposed to tons of pollution on a daily basis and this product is incredible at deep cleansing within 3-5 minutes making it great for girls with a busy lifestyle (I categorise myself here, but I’m also just lazy). I use it 2-3x a week to bring out that natural glow, which is always my number one goal for summer.

Something I’m really really guilty of is the lack of SPF I’ve used throughout my life. But my philosophy is better late than never. Yeah? I love this particular SPF for many reasons: 1) it doesn’t turn your face white 2) it doesn’t smell like sweet coconut, for once 3) it’s non-greasy. These 3 reasons are actually the main reasons I never used to wear SPF on my face. If you’re the same, you should really check this out. I know it’s a bit on the pricey side for an SPF, but this stuff is probably more beneficial in the long run than a fancy cream/serum in my opinion.

And last but not least, I’m not sure this after sun care tan extender is absolutely crucial to your routine, but I was definitely sold on it. If you have sensitive skin, I think this product will do wonders for you. For me, it’s just a nice to have 🙂

Cheers to summer & make sure you stock up before your next sunny vacation ladies!
