Maximizing your closet: One Dress, Two Ways

01Felicia

Happy New Year everyone! It’s a new year, which means naturally we’re back to making resolutions we probably won’t keep. Instead of creating my usual long list of things I hope to accomplish (many of which are the same every year…”go to the gym more”), I decided this year I’ll focus on tackling just one thing at a time. Number one on my list: SPRING CLEANING (now, I obviously realize it’s not spring but you know what I mean).

**Inspiration: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

After being suggested this book by several friends, I sort of got the hint. Not only my closet, but my general apartment seems to collect more and more sh*t over time. I’ve always been a huge offender of keeping things I think I’ll maybe, potentially use some time in the future once (ladies, you know who you are). In an effort to streamline my things and therefore my life, I decided to drastically reduce the number of unnecessary things I own.

One major step to achieving this goal is finding those key pieces in my closet that I can wear multiple ways, at a range of occasions and will remain useful season after season. This silky Lioness dress is a major steal at $89 and can be worn casually over a white T with trainers or dressed up with a pair of booties and some accessories. I paired it with a colorful faux fur coat and matching velvet booties. This one’s a keeper.

The next step will be selling everything in my closet that doesn’t fit the above mentioned category of usefulness, and donating the rest. If this post sounds at all familiar and you’re looking to do the same, watch out for a post on how to sell your unneeded items!
